The Millstone | Gorgeous Styled Wedding Shoot in Limestone, Tennessee

Wedding Venues

About The Millstone

The Millstone Wedding Venue in Limestone, Tennessee is a wedding venue like none other. One look at that water wheel, mixed with the gorgeous wood, nestled in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee just makes you think, “Wow!”

This venue features: an indoor and outdoor space, bridal suite and dressing room, a groom’s dressing room with a man cave, sleeping quarters for up to 12 quests, modern kitchen with full use of appliances, and entire weekend rental! This mill has been a part of history since 1811, and the history here makes it perfect for hosting your wedding. Not to mention it’s in the heart of the Tri-Cities, and very close to Asheville, North Carolina!

What We Didn’t Expect

We actually have a now hilarious story to tie in with this styled shoot. At the time, it was far less hilarious, and a lot more terrifying. When we arrived at this venue, we were prepared to work with the downpour of rain that was happening this day. By rain, I don’t mean a light drizzle. I mean an absolute downpour of extreme proportions. This was some of the hardest rain we have ever experienced since moving to Tennessee. One thing we were not prepared for, however, was thinking that we had lost our home due to a house fire.

As the styled shoot was progressing, all of the awesome photographers and videographers capturing their amazing footage, it dawned on us that we had left our oven on from dinner that evening. It had been several hours since dinner. Dusty immediately jumped into the car, raced home in the monsoon that was occuring, while Ashley was worrying that she had lost everything. In her brain, she had lost her husband, her home, her cats, and her car all at once.

Dusty finally arrived home, and to our surprise, the oven was off. The food that was in the oven was cooked to perfection. As far as we can remember for the life of us, we did not turn this oven off. We had eaten the main course but left the broccoli in the oven without ever eating it. This is how we know it was God watching out for us. Not only did He protect Dusty driving home in the pouring rain like the craziest action movie you’ve ever seen, but he prevented our oven from catching fire. Oh, and He let it cook to perfection for Dusty to eat on the way back to the styled shoot.

Styled Shoot

Aside from this absolute crazy event that happened, this styled shoot at The Millstone couldn’t have went any better. Rain and all, we captured some absolutely beautiful photos and video. The decor was amazing, the venue was amazing, and our models were even willing to brave the rain for photos!

Personally, I think the rain only added to this amazing day. Not only do we have a once in a lifetime story to tell, but we also have some amazing photos to share with you all! We learned our lesson, as well. We never leave the house without checking to make sure the oven is off!
