Styled Shoot at Greenwood Oaks Wedding Venue in East Tennessee

Wedding Venues

Greenwood Oaks

Greenwood Oaks is one of the most gorgeous wedding venues in East Tennessee. It boasts multiple ceremony sites, a beautiful interior, and has the most genuine owners/operators you can find. Whether you want a micro wedding, full blown wedding, or are just looking for a venue to have beautiful picture locations, Greenwood Oaks has you covered!

Story Behind Greenwood Oaks

We were invited to participate in this content day opportunity and of course said yes! We had never worked at Greenwood Oaks before but knew we wanted to someday! The pictures of this venue online were beautiful, but being there in person is truly amazing. Daniel and Meredith Shrader, owners of this immaculate venue, really make you feel like you belong as soon as you walk through the door.

We arrived early to capture some behind the scenes video of this styled shoot. Meredith met us at the door and showed us around their property. She told the story of how they had renovated this property for their dream, adding a unique water feature with a fountain, fields of sunflowers and zinnias, and all the string lights our heart could handle. Having fallen in love in Moscow, Russia, worked as missionaries for the Kingdom of God, and worked as a Physician’s Assistant, this wedding venue is something both Daniel and Meredith value.

Start of the Content Day

As time approached for the photographers to man their battle stations, Daniel gave us the rundown of what we would be capturing and introduced the models, all of whom had been married at this very venue. Everyone busted out into their assigned groups and went to work. The best part of content days (or fake weddings if you will) is the fact that you have more time to experiment with poses and creative shots than in a time crunch of a normal wedding. You could see this flowing through the minds of every photographer who was participating.

Four Locations for Pictures

Our group first started in a patch of zinnias that lead to a magical oak tree which had string lights hanging from the branches. This spot, also a ceremony site, was absolutely breathtaking. It truly reminded us of something from a movie. A fairytale movie, at that. Daniel actually hand weeds these zinnias himself. What a literal man. Laughing with our group and the models, capturing amazing pictures, we knew this would be an amazing day.

Our next stop was inside! The goal of this location was to see how the interior of this venue would look as a ceremony site. It looked super awesome, obviously! Our models in here were awesome, too. We captured a fake indoor ceremony, had them sit at a table as if they were happily married enjoying their first meal, and of course got some creative shots with lighting.

Now was time to venture to the pond with a fountain. The sun was setting in the most gorgeous spot. And, as you probably guessed, the pictures were stunning! The pier was decorated beautifully, and the pond with the venue in the background really made if feel like we were on a big lake in some dream world. The heat of the day was finally cooling off and this styled shoot was going incredible.

Although walking up mountains (this was more like a slope, really) can be challenging for us at times, the adrenaline of this awesome day carried us seemingly to the top. It was nothing short of stunning. Zinnias covered the ground, views of the immense East Tennessee mountains shown, and the sun was blazing it’s last glaring orange before it said goodnight. In a location like this, it’s hard not to feel like God had designed this place with photographers in mind.

End of the Day

The sun had finally set. The string lights illuminating this venue was complimentary to the inviting atmosphere that lived here all this time. We wrapped up the night by saying goodbye to all the friends we had made, and left feeling more full of creativity than ever.

Daniel and Meredith, thank you all so much for inviting us to this content day! It means the world to us that we were able to capture stunning photos and an awesome BTS video on your farm. We are excited to work with you all in the future! Bride and Groom’s, if you all are looking for a wedding venue to celebrate your once in a lifetime day, look no further than Greenwood Oaks!
